This Privacy Policy explains how GOAT Lab ("we," "us," or "the game"), operated by Momentum Apps LLC, handles information when you use the game at playgoatlab.com. The short version: you can play everything without an account. Signing in is optional, and only used for the daily leaderboard and saving your daily results.
1. Playing without an account
GOAT Lab is free to play with no account required. If you just play, the game runs in your browser and we do not require a login, email, or personal details. Your game progress is stored locally on your device. The one exception is the leaderboard: completing the Daily Challenge posts an anonymous “Guest” entry — an auto-generated name like “Guest 41822” plus your score — to the public leaderboard (see Section 3). This uses an anonymous sign-in that collects no personal information (no email, name, or profile); the guest name is generated at random and can’t be tied to you.
2. Optional sign-in (Google)
If you choose to Sign in with Google, we use Google Firebase Authentication and collect basic Google account information: your name, email address, and profile photo URL. This is used to identify you for the daily leaderboard and to associate your daily results with your account. Signing in is entirely optional and not required to play.
3. The daily leaderboard is public
When you complete the Daily Challenge, your score and a display name are submitted to a public global leaderboard (stored in Google Firebase / Firestore) that is visible to everyone who uses GOAT Lab. If you are signed in, that name is your display name; if you are not signed in, it is an anonymous “Guest #####” name generated at random (you can’t change it, and it isn’t linked to any personal info). We store one entry per day per player (the name, score, the build you submitted, and the date); if you own the GOAT Pass, a 🐐 badge appears next to your name. You can request removal of your leaderboard entries and account data at any time by emailing ethan@momentumapps.net.
4. Analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics, a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics tool, to understand aggregate traffic (such as page views and referrers). It does not use tracking cookies and does not build advertising profiles of you. We do not sell your personal data.
5. Cookies and local storage
GOAT Lab does not use cross-site tracking cookies or advertising cookies, and our analytics is cookieless. We use your browser's local storage only for essential, first-party functions you choose to use: remembering your Daily Challenge progress and streak on your device, and keeping you signed in if you sign in with Google. These are strictly necessary for those features and are never used to track you across other sites.
6. Hosting and server logs
The game is hosted on Vercel. Like virtually all web hosts, Vercel may automatically log standard technical request data (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) for security, performance, and abuse prevention. This data is handled by Vercel under its own privacy practices. See Vercel's Privacy Policy.
7. Payments (GOAT Pass) and tips
The GOAT Pass is an optional, one-time purchase. Payments are processed by Stripe, a third-party payment processor — we never see or store your full card details. To deliver the Pass to the right account, we receive a purchase confirmation from Stripe (including your purchase email and a transaction/session ID) and store a record on your account that it owns the Pass. Your payment information is handled by Stripe under Stripe's Privacy Policy.
You may also optionally tip us through our "Support Us" link, processed by a third-party platform (Ko-fi). As with Stripe, we never see or store your full payment details, and any information you provide is governed by Ko-fi's own privacy policy. Both the GOAT Pass and tips are entirely voluntary and are never required to play any part of the game.
8. External links
GOAT Lab may link or redirect to third-party sites (for example, Stripe checkout, Ko-fi, X/Twitter, Discord, or Momentum Apps). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to review their policies.
9. Children's privacy
GOAT Lab is intended for users 13 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Signing in (which is optional) requires a Google account, which Google itself requires users to be old enough to hold. If you believe a child under 13 has signed in or provided personal information, email ethan@momentumapps.net and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page, and the "Last updated" date above will be revised accordingly.
